Livezilla (Live Chat Software) Review

Livezilla is a live support software that allows websites to offer live chat for sales and support.   Livezilla is the only program so far that makes it very easy when it comes to installation.  The download file is an exe file that includes both the “Livezilla Server Admin” and “Livezilla Client”.  The “Livezilla Server Admin” will basically install all required files using FTP protocol from your computer.   You will need to setup mysql database on your server for Livezilla to function properly.  You can use Livezilla without mysql database but it is not recommended if you have a busy website.

Some of the options for “Livezilla Server Admin” include -

  • Create new livezilla server
  • Update existing livezilla server
  • Server test
  • Server profiles
  • Server configuration
  • User management
  • Server backup
  • Backup restore
  • Link generator / script generator

Basically, all website settings are managed through the desktop based program.  This option does make it easy but it makes it difficult to make changes if you are not in front of your computer.  However, one can download the “server admin” program anywhere and login as a system admin to make changes to the website.

The second program that is installed is the “Livezilla Client”.  The program is set to run every time the computer is turned on and it will log in automatically.  I find this feature really useful and very time saving.

Another cool option is  Geo Tracking which is available for free.  Geo Tracking basically shows you the location and language of the site visitor.  This can come in handy when helping your clients.  For example, if a client messages asking for assistance, live chat agent can compare the geo tracking location with the billing information to make sure they are dealing with the rightful owner of the account.  Keep in mind that Geo tracking needs to be enabled in the “Livezilla Server Admin”.

Also, If the computer goes idle, the system will automatically turn live chat off on the website.  This way the chat agent only gets chat request when their computer is being used or they are not idle.  Some of the other features include canned responses, internal chat with other agents, cobrowse, invite to chat, website push etc.

Overall, I really like this live chat software.  It is very easy to use and comes with tons of nice features.

    Would like to invite u to give zopim a go :) we have most of the features mentioned (more in fact!) and being a saas solution, its even faster to get started with zopim.
